Cuba says four people killed, six injured after Florida speedboat opens fire in Cuban waters

Cuban officials said Wednesday that four people were killed, and six others were injured, after a speedboat that had allegedly come from Florida entered its waters and began firing at Cuban border patrol troops.

The Cuban Ministry of the Interior said the boat, which displayed a Florida registration number, approached within 1 nautical mile northeast of the El Pino canal in Cayo Falcones.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Wednesday defended Democrats for not standing at President Donald Trump's invitation during the State of the Union, saying they disagreed with the premise.

Trump had invited members of the audience to stand if they believed the first duty of the U.S. government was to its citizens, not illegal aliens. Very few Democrats stood up. Schumer insisted that they had not done so because they did not believe that Trump's policies were in the best interests of American citizens.

Vice President JD Vance said Wednesday that he will be working with the Justice and Treasury Departments on the "war on fraud," which President Donald Trump announced during his State of the Union address Tuesday night. 

Trump said he is appointing Vance to lead his administration's nationwide response to public welfare fraud, highlighting recent high-profile revelations of large-scale public fraud linked to the Somali expat community in Minneapolis.
