Former NFL star quarterback Cam Newton says current NFL star quarterback Aaron Rodgers was right last week when he accused the pro football league of COVID-era hypocrisy.

In an interview on The Pat McAfee Show, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said that many in the NFL used fake COVID vaccination documents in order to avoid the league's rules punishing and banning players who didn't get vaccinated.

Rodgers made the claim while denouncing COVID czar Anthony Fauci for invoking the Fifth Amendment 111 times to avoid testifying before Congress about his handling of, and public recommendations about, the COVID epidemic.

In the interview on Monday, August 3, Rodgers said:

"A lot of people had probably fake vax cards back in the day. I remember seeing some of the vax cards. It was like written in crayon.

"I'm like, alright, so we're going to pass that off [as legitimate], but we [unvaccinated] are going to be second-rate citizens over here. I got to wear a yellow armband, train in the back, can't be around more than three people."

Four days later, Newton used his Friday podcast to back up Rodgers:

"Going back to 2020, there were multiple players, coaches, and executives that fraudulently got their COVID shot. Yes, I said it."

"You're like, Cam, what do you know? It's like, man, I knew multiple people in that locker room didn't get the COVID shot."

"But they got a card that they paid for," Newton said, noting that the sale of fake vaccine documents was a highly profitable business at the time:

"Boy, you talking about nurses was making big bank on them cards. And that little [stamp] .... Man, folks was trying to get in a club: 'Hey, man, you got your vaccination card? Yeah, yeah, I got it...'"

"So, when I see Aaron Rodgers 'keeping in the buck,' as we would say, being honest and saying, 'Ah, man, this trash network [didn't properly cover Fauci's hearing] that's his truth," Newton said.

During his COVID-era playing days with the New England Patriots, Newton had his own run-in with the NFL's COVID policy. Due to a "misunderstanding about tests conducted away from NFL facilities," Newton was subjected to a five-day, re-entry cadence before he could return to the team facility, Fox News recalls.
