President Donald Trump adamantly denied reports that the United States is facing a munitions shortage amidst the continued conflict in Iran, saying that the "leakers" would be "hunted down."
Trump took to Truth Social late on Wednesday evening, following false media reports that the U.S. had depleted much of its interceptor and missile stockpiles.
"The U.S. has massive amounts of 'munitions,' especially of certain types. Additionally, large amounts are being manufactured and shipped to the U.S. as needed," the commander-in-chief said.
"The 'leakers' of these treasonous statements are being hunted down. Long term jail sentences will be sought!" he asserted.
Multiple administration officials took issue with an article by The Washington Post alleging that Trump berated Secretary of War Pete Hegseth over the purported munitions shortage.
Citing two anonymous sources familiar with the alleged exchange at Camp David on Friday, The Post said that Trump believed he had been misled about the situation, telling Hegseth he thought the munitions issue "had been fixed."
Hegseth allegedly blamed his deputy, Stephen Feinberg, for the munition shortages and the failure to fully brief Trump on the issue, the sources speaking on the condition of anonymity told The Post.
The newspaper also reported on the analysis of Brad Bowman, Army veteran and senior director at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, that though there is a move to rebuild the arsenal, it could be years for this to happen.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed the report as completely false, asserting that the alleged exchange never took place.
"I was at Camp David with President Trump and Secretary Hegseth. This literally never happened, and we told the Washington Post that repeatedly," she said on Wednesday.
"This B.S. story was shopped to many outlets by someone clearly out to disparage the Secretary, for whatever reason," she continued. "Unfortunately for them, the President loves the Secretary and thinks he's doing a tremendous job. FAKE NEWS!"

Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell also adamantly denied the reporting, responding to Leavitt's statement, "We told the Washington Post the same thing."
"They ran with the fake, anonymously sourced BS anyway. Complete & total Fake News," he said.

CNN and Reuters also reported, using unnamed sources, that the U.S. had exhausted large amounts of its interceptor and long-range missile stockpiles, respectively.
Though it reported on the depletion of munitions, Reuters also noted, based on another unnamed source, that the U.S. can resupply, with United States Central Command (CENTCOM) having been able to reload with U.S. military supplies worldwide.
The outlet said it contacted the White House about the munitions stockpile data and received a statement back from Trump, which stated that America had "far more munitions than anyone in the world" and "far more than we need."
In his social media post, Trump also pointed to the production of new munitions.
"Defense companies are building the largest number of plants and factories in our country's history," he said.
On Monday, the Department of War released a statement on the expanded production of missile-interceptor components with Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin, an approach meant to ensure supply-chain stability and meet long-term demand.
