Former Harvard president Larry Summers is resigning from his professorship over his widely reported relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Summers issued his resignation and will take leave through the rest of the academic year, relinquishing all duties from the university afterwards, a Harvard spokesman confirmed to the Daily Caller News Foundation. The former university president and Clinton administration Treasury Secretary also confirmed the resignation in a statement to The Harvard Crimson on Wednesday.

Republican Oklahoma Sen. Markwayne Mullin criticized independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders for not fixing healthcare during his decades in Congress during a Wednesday hearing.

Arthur Liu Junguo, father of Olympian figure skater Alysa Liu, is elaborating on why he rejected China’s attempt to get his daughter to skate for them. 

“Obviously, I would not allow my daughter to compete on behalf of China, because of the serious human rights violations in China,” Arthur Liu told Japan-based English-language magazine Nikkei Asia in an online interview Monday night. Arthur Liu left China in 1989, following his involvement in pro-democracy protests after Tiananmen Square, according to Nikkei Asia.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio is fighting to ensure American tech companies retain sovereignty over foreign national’s data, Reuters reported Wednesday.

An internal diplomatic Rubio signed criticized the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as a prime example of imposing “unnecessarily burdensome data processing restrictions and cross-border data flow requirements,” according to Reuters. The message also said that laws attempting to take control of data from American tech companies would “disrupt global data flows, increase costs and cybersecurity risks, limit Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cloud services, and expand government control in ways that can undermine civil liberties and enable censorship.”
