Democrats will unleash a wave of subpoenas against Trump and his allies on DAY ONE of their new majority, White House correspondent JON MICHAEL RAASCH claims on latest Deep Dive podcast

Democrats will start firing off subpoenas at Donald Trump and his allies the moment their new House majority is sworn in this January, a well-placed source has told the Daily Mail's White House correspondent Jon Michael Raasch.

The party seized both the House and the Senate in a historic rout on Tuesday, flipping seven Senate seats, including the Republican strongholds of Texas and Kansas.

As the results rolled in, Democrat Robert Garcia, who is expected to chair the powerful House Oversight Committee, posted a two-word warning to the Trump camp on social media: 'LAWYER UP'.

Speaking on the latest episode of Deep Dive, Raasch claimed that while the President will be the 'number one' target of the incoming majority, anyone with 'any relationship to the White House' who has cut a deal with the administration could also find themselves under investigation.

He pointed to tech giants who have donated to Trump's new White House ballroom, including Mark Zuckerberg's Meta, which reportedly gave $5million to the project. There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing by Meta or Zuckerberg.

Raasch also highlighted Jared Kushner, the President's son-in-law, who has served as an unpaid envoy in talks over Gaza, Ukraine and Iran while running Affinity Partners, a private equity firm largely backed by Gulf money. Kushner has denied any conflict of interest and insists he has never taken a diplomatic action to benefit his firm.

He added that the Epstein files will be 'a top priority', with Democrats keen to establish whether more documents exist and whether anything is being 'covered up' about the late paedophile financier.

'The subpoenas are supposed to fly on day one,' Raasch said.

'That is what a well-placed Democratic source on Capitol Hill told me just as the tally was coming in.

'Congressional committees are now going to be controlled by Democrats. Those Democrats then get to say exactly what's going to happen.

'They get to schedule who's going to come up and testify. They get to schedule what hearings they're going to have, on what topics and what their priorities are going to be.

'Number one on that list is President Donald Trump. He's their top priority, and he's going to be the guy that's going to be investigated.'

Elsewhere in the podcast, Raasch tipped Georgia senator Jon Ossoff, who comfortably won re-election on Tuesday, as the Democrat to watch in the 2028 presidential race.

Ossoff, 39, a former documentary maker, made headlines in August when he told a campaign rally that Trump would rather 'travel with Natalie' than do his job, a jibe aimed at the President's executive assistant Natalie Harp.

The remark sparked weeks of coverage and drew Trump's ire, with the President branding the senator 'Pee-wee Herman'. There is no suggestion of any impropriety in Trump's relationship with Harp.

'He's young, he's got a chiselled jawline, he looks the part of a politician,' Raasch said.

'He's been one to really take on Trump, calling out the President by name… he knows how to strike at the President and how to get him riled up.

'If you look at the odds in the polls, he is one of the top guys to watch.'

Raasch added that coming from Georgia, a key battleground state, only strengthens Ossoff's hand.
