Horror moment rifle-wielding maniac storms Citibank and kills woman in targeted attack leaving thousands of workers fleeing for their lives

Newly released video captured the horrific moment a rifle-wielding gunman stormed a Citibank campus in Florida before killing a woman and making thousands run for their lives.

The deadly incident broke out around noon on Wednesday at the Sabal Park Business Area in Brandon, just outside of Tampa, according to police.

An unidentified female victim, who was reportedly wounded and bleeding in the cafeteria, died from the gunfire, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) said.

A chilling clip circulating online appeared to show a male shooter exit a gray sedan with a rifle in hand after he crashed the car into the building and stormed inside.

The unnamed suspect was shot dead by a Citi armed security guard in what police initially described as a 'targeted incident.' Around 3.20pm police said there 'is no longer an active threat.'

Sources told the New York Post that the shooting is believed to have involved a vendor, not Citi employees.

Officials said there are 3,200 people on that campus. The relationship between the suspect and victim remains unclear.

Dramatic images showed paramedics rushing gurneys over to the scene, as another showed a man strapped inside and wheeled away. A woman was also seen being transported on a gurney at the campus.

Every room in the building was evacuated by the sheriff's department and a SWAT team, police said.

Citi workers were instructed to meet at a 'reunification site' located in a nearby parking lot.

A shelter-in-place was also conducted at nearby Hillsborough College during the shooting.

More than 10,000 people work for Citi in Tampa, including in the 670,000sq foot corporate center.  The New York-based company has occupied that campus since 1998.

'We are currently clearing the building and will provide updates as they are available,' the agency shared.

As of 2.15pm, officials were still trying to clear the area, according to a post by the sheriff's office.

A total of 367 HCSO deputies responded to the scene along with members of other 'specialized units.'

Douglas, a Citi employee, described the madness he witnessed when the shooting unfolded.

He told FOX 13 that he was inside one of the food court stations serving customers when he suddenly saw a crowd of people running, which made him think a fight had broken out at first.

Brandon ran toward a back door and waited until he saw police officers run inside.

'Just love your loved ones, you know? You never know when you're gonna see 'em. Talk to your people. If there's that one person that you haven't spoken to in a while, talk to 'em. You never know, tomorrow may not be tomorrow,' Douglas said.

Another woman told the outlet that she received terrifying texts from her husband, who was inside the building during the shooting.

Her husband, who works in catering for the company, told her that everyone in the building was hiding as they exchanged messages sharing their love for each other.

He then went quiet for a bit before responding about 10 minutes later, stating he was out in the garage.

According to her, that area can only be accessed with a badge.

The Daily Mail contacted the HCSO and Citi for comment.
