President Donald Trump confirmed on Saturday evening the “supreme leader” of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was dead after an American and Israeli bombing campaign targeted Tehran this weekend.

The Pentagon launched “Operation Epic Fury” on Saturday, intended to degrade the Iranian Islamist regime’s ability to engage in terrorism and target American assets specifically. According to the Pentagon’s Central Command (CENTCOM), which operates in the Middle East, the objective of the operation was to “dismantle the Iranian regime’s security apparatus, prioritizing locations that posed an imminent threat.”

President Donald Trump said Saturday night he knows “exactly who” could replace Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei following his elimination in a joint U.S.-Israeli strike, asserting the removal of Tehran’s longtime ruler has materially shifted the diplomatic landscape.

Saturday, during an appearance on Fox News Channel, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), a longtime proponent of U.S. intervention in the Middle East, applauded the Trump administration’s decision to take military action against Iran.

The South Carolina Republican called the toppling of the Iranian regime “the biggest change in a thousand years.”

During an interview with PBS’s “Firing Line” released on Friday, businessman Mark Cuban said that “Democrats used to be a party of entrepreneurs. They no longer are. It used to be people that were part of the party were focused on solving the problem, as opposed to creating policy first,” but now the party is focused too much on passing laws as opposed to just doing things to solve problems.

On Friday’s “PBS NewsHour,” The Atlantic Staff Writer David Brooks said the media has told “half the country that your voices aren’t worth hear[ing],” and “I think it’s time to mix up the media, that we got a little too progressive, a little too elite, and if Bari Weiss can change the mindset, all power to her.”

On Friday’s broadcast of Newsmax TV’s “Carl Higbie Frontline,” former Trump Economic Adviser Stephen Moore said that he wants to see lower interest rates, but getting that primarily depends on cutting government spending, not actions from the Federal Reserve.

Several Democrats supported President Donald Trump after the United States and Israel carried out joint strikes on Iran overnight, highlighting the “need to stand together to bring an end to terrorism.”

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA), and Reps. Don Davis (D-NC)  plusGreg Landsman (D-OH) issued statements in which they expressed that Trump “has been willing to do what’s right and necessary.” Rep. Landsman spoke about how the U.S. was “destroying Iran’s missiles and bombs to stop them from taking more lives.”
