After the organization's well-documented sexual abuse crisis, the Scouts went full woke and the organization has been in decline since. Sec. Pete Hegseth wants to get back to the basics so America's youth are prepared as both civilians and military recruits.
After 2012 ... the Boy Scouts lost their way, and a once great organization became gravely wounded. DEI crept in, the name was changed to Scouting America. Girls were accepted. The focus on God as the ruler of the universe was watered down to include openness to humanism and earth-centered pagan religions ...
They even welcomed the destructive myth of gender fluidity and transgenderism ... along the way standards were lowered and merit destroyed in favor of an insidious, radical, woke ideology that is anti-America and anti-American.
The result? Membership cratered.
We wouldn't have ever seen this under Trump term one, let alone another Republican or Democrat administration!
Secretary Hegseth says he met with the heads of Scouting America after threatening to end the relationship between the Scouts and the military.
Here is what the Scouts have agreed to do:
Scouting America agreed to make several key reforms. Let me briefly highlight a few of them:
First, Scouting America has agreed to comply immediately with the provisions of Executive Order 14173, this includes reviewing and replacing divisive and discriminatory language throughout the programs and the organizations. No more DEI. Zero.
Second, the "Citizen in Society" merit badge that encouraged scouts to explore diversity, equity, inclusion, and identity - they always mask it under a name that sounds great that should be something else - and then ask those scouts to engage in activism on those topics, that badge had been discontinued.
Third, Scouting America will modify its policy to make clear that membership will be based solely on biological sex at birth, not gender identity. That means any application will have only two sex designations - male and female - and the application must match the birth certificate ...
Fourth, Scouting America will honor those who serve by waiving the registration fees of active duty Guard and Reserve families ...
Fifth, in partnership with the War Department, Scouting America will introduce a new military service merit badge.
It looks like there will still be girls in Scouting, but there won't be any wokeness, DEI, or other ridiculous activism as matter of policy.
