Laken Riley's dad sues University of Georgia, apartment complex where her killer lived

Laken Riley's dad sues University of Georgia, apartment complex where her killer lived

The father of Laken Riley has filed a lawsuit against two parties he feels responsible for the death of his daughter, who was brutally raped and killed in 2024 by an illegal alien who had previously been arrested for another crime in another state.

Laken Riley was jogging on the campus of the University of Georgia when a stalker, Jose Ibarra, attacked and killed her.

Her father is blaming the University of Georgia for having an unsafe campus.

Riley's father, Jason Riley, filed a wrongful death lawsuit in Gwinnett County State Court this week. He is seeking $1 million in compensation for 'loss of his daughter's life and companionship.'

The lawsuit names the University System of Georgia, which oversees the UGA and other Georgia public colleges and universities.

Riley's father and his attorneys claim the USG did not provide a safe environment in Athens and didn't notify other students about Ibarra spying on someone at a UGA dorm the same day of Riley's death.

'Had defendant Board of Regents warned the public, the Athens community, and students such as Ms. Riley of the threat posed by Ibarra, Ibarra would not have had the opportunity to assault and murder Ms. Riley,' it stated.

The lawsuit also notes that Ibarra's brother was hired as an employee on Georgia's campus with the dining hall after giving the university a fake green card, further emphasizing the university's lack of safety protocols.

The apartment complex where Ibarra was living is also named in the suit.

The filing slams the apartment complex for not screening the legal and criminal status of residents, especially in close proximity to the university.

Next up, the Sanctuary City of Athens and the Biden and Mayorkas regime.
