Ontario to allow 6-AM alcohol sales for Sunday's Canada-USA gold-medal hockey game

There's nothing more Canadian than hockey…except, maybe, millions of hammered Canadians watching hockey.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford is getting into the Olympic spirit by allowing alcohol sales to start at 6 AM - an hour early - in preparation for Sunday's gold medal final between Canada and the U.S., which starts at 8:10 ET.

That's A LOT of sauced Canadians on a Sunday morning.

You can't blame the guy. When you're looking for ways to celebrate in Canada, you're limited to heading down to Tim Horton's, moose riding, or hitting the booze at 6 AM.

As reported by The Hill:

Bars and restaurants across Ontario will be allowed to start serving alcohol early on Sunday in anticipation of the gold medal men's hockey game between the U.S. and Canada, according to the province's government.

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) announced Friday that the hours for liquor sales would be extended so that establishments could begin serving at 6 a.m. ET.

What's the worst that could happen?
There are, however, at least some limitations to the expanded window for alcohol sales.

The AGCO noted that the extension applied only to 'indoor licensed areas,' not outdoor spaces, such as patios.

Yes, better to contain all the sloshed Canucks indoors and keep them from roaming the streets.

The U.S. and Canada are set to face off to determine who takes home the gold, which would be Canada's first since 2014, or the first for the U.S. since the 1980 "Miracle on Ice."

On the bright side for Canadians, they could already be well on their way to being three sheets to the wind if the U.S. ends up winning.

Good news, eh?
