Your kind words have meant the world to my family and I this past week. I still cannot believe how much you have all rallied behind us, and I can never thank you enough. I've been able to spend lots of extra time at home with my family this week.
I've also stayed in touch with Luke, and I look forward to continuing that friendship as he navigates all the blessings that have come his way.

Luke is the homeless vet that set up the fundraiser (a fundraiser has been set up for him too).

After giving it a lot of thought, I've decided not to participate in any interviews. My family's safety and privacy come first, and I feel this is the best decision for us. I appreciate everyone who has reached out and hope you understand.

The dude could have kept the fundraiser going forever. He could have gone on Fox News, CNN, any podcast he wanted and really "built his brand" and tried to make a career out of his fame.

He could have milked this for everything it was worth and become a real online celebrity.

He chose not to.

You've gotta respect it.

In alignment with Walt's wishes, this will probably be the last we hear about him as he disappears back into private, normal life.
