Mexican government says it has repelled cartel that torched Costco (and multiple cities)

Normally, cartel operations are away from tourist areas. But after the Mexican government killed the leader of the powerful Jalisco New Generation Cartel, the cartel retaliated by setting the tourist city of Puerto Vallarta and the regional capital of Guadalajara on fire.

Westerners aren't used to seeing cities with Marriott hotels and Costcos on fire. It was a very odd look at how the "consoomer" mindset would play out in a real crisis.

Take this real post from a "Platinum Elite" member who is trying to wave around their brand loyalty title as if they are a feudal lord who deserves protection from the common rabble.

To say that most Westerners are unprepared for survival outside their "Platinum Elite" bubbles is an understatement.

The LA Times reports that 25 members of the Mexican National Guard were killed Sunday during the cartel attacks.

No word yet on when the Costcos and 7-Elevens will reopen for business.
