You know how you get those annoying random spam messages asking you to support a political candidate? Everyone loves those!

Now imagine instead of a bot, it's your annoying lefty relative or college buddy sending out talking points from Gavin Newsom.

Awesome, right?

Well, that's the plan for Newsom.

Yeah, this has got to be a crime against humanity. Anyone who takes PAC money to send out texts in their family group about Gavin Newsom needs to be exiled to a small Antarctic island.

This is the moderate solution.

Here are more details from The New York Post:

Newsom's email lays out a new 'digital' political operation his PAC is launching to help elect Democrats — and spread the gospel of Newsom — by training supporters to implant Newsom's talking points into family text chains, alumni Facebook groups and other online communities, where politics isn't typically discussed.

'A lot of those spaces aren't political at all,' the email says. 'That's the point.'

While your brothers and sisters are sending cute pics of their kids at the zoo, you need to be introducing politics on behalf of Gavin Newscum into the group chats.

"Cute polar bear, did you know the ice caps are melting?"

"Nice Christmas tree! Have you thought about Palestine today?"

"That was a great game last night! Reminded me that Republicans are a threat to our democracy."

You know, just introducing politics into totally apolitical conversations. Exactly the kind of thing that will get people to totally not hate your candidate.

Instead of hoping campaign ads or official social media posts reach persuadable voters, Newsom's PAC ... will be holding training sessions every Tuesday for the next eight weeks to teach people to digest Newsom's messaging and regurgitate it to friends, family and associates in their own words.

'So the task isn't forwarding talking points or propaganda,' the email says. 'It's taking what we send you and translating it for people you understand better than we do.'

The email adds, 'The person already in that room is the only one who can get a message in, and the only one who knows how to say it so it doesn't feel out of place.'

I cannot stress enough: This is the worst idea I have ever heard in my life.

And I truly hope this is where Newsom puts all of his political efforts.
