Uber introduces new air taxi (what could possibly go wrong?)

Uber introduces new air taxi (what could possibly go wrong?)

This looks like fun!

"Coming to the Uber app this year," you say?

Well, coming to Dubai, that is.

(Sorry, America.)

Here's what to expect from Uber:

  • Joby flight experience: Joby's all-electric air taxi is being designed for up to four passengers, with comfortable seating, featuring large windows with panoramic views of the city below from every seat. Flown by a certified commercial pilot, it offers a remarkable way to travel above the city and experience the next generation of flight.

  • Aircraft details: Joby's aircraft uses six tilting propellers to take off vertically before transitioning into forward flight. It can travel at speeds of up to 200 mph, and has a range of up to 100 miles on a single charge.

  • Designed for cities: It is engineered with multiple levels of redundancies to enhance safety and designed for urban integration, featuring an acoustic profile that is quiet enough to blend into the ambient sounds of a city's streets.

Uber is going to attempt this program in New York, Los Angeles, the UK, and Japan if they can get approval, but will need FAA approval before coming to the States.

I guess Americans will have to continue barfing in the back of that Hyundai Santa Fe for the time being.

No word yet on price!
