Yes, according to a lawsuit filed by five white male Philadelphia police officers, the City of Brotherly Love is apparently more interested in checking diversity boxes than rewarding merit.
Because nothing says "public safety" like ignoring top performers in favor of DEI candidates!
Here's the scoop from NYP:
The five officers had 'positive annual performance reviews' and 'strong service records' when they missed out on captain and lieutentant positions during the November 2025 promotion cycle, according to the suit filed by America First Legal (AFL).

'Of the 10 individuals promoted to captain, only 50% were white males, even though white men constituted 70% of the top ten candidates and 73% of the top 15 candidates by test scores,' the suit reads.
Back in 2021, then-City Councilwoman (now Mayor) Cherelle Parker led the charge to ditch the old "Rule of Two," which basically forced promotions to go to the top performers on the list. Now, the city has moved toward a more DEI approach, which seems to be what led to this round of unfair promotions in Philly.
